The Connecticut Development Authority recently approved $1.3 million in financial support to Norpaco Gourmet Foods, Inc. of New Britain, Connecticut to help them relocate and expand its facility. The loan will be provided by the CDA in participation with People’s United Bank.

Norpaco was founded in 1946 in Norwich as a wholesale distributor of food products to the restaurant and hospitality industries. Their product line consists of prepared foods and snacks, such as pickled products, stuffed peppers, smoked meats, panini rolls pickled eggs, olives, and other gourmet Italian specialty foods.

Over the years the company has relocated and continued expanding, and has outgrown its current 25,000-square-foot plant in New Britain. The financial assistance being provided will help the company with the purchase of a new facility that will be twice the size at 50,000 square feet.

Norpaco currently employs just over 100 people, but with is expansion plan expects to be increasing that number by about twenty.
