The Connecticut Development Authority Selects Facilities Manager for Hartford Civic Center

ROCKY HILL, CONN., -- March 21, 2007 – The Connecticut Development Authority (CDA) today selected Northland/AEG to manage the Hartford Civic Center facility.

The winning firm, selected by a unanimous vote by CDA’s board of directors, will manage the facility’s operations and programs on behalf of the CDA, which operates the Hartford Civic Center for the City of Hartford. The CDA’s lease on the Civic Center runs through 2013.

“As the fiduciary and responsible operator of the Hartford Civic Center, CDA’s goal was to select the proposal that best identified the financial, economic development, civic and entertainment potential of the facility,” said L. Scott Frantz, chairman of CDA’s board.  “We believe we accomplished that.”

Northland/AEG was selected over two other bidders, Global Spectrum/Baldwin Sports Group and Madison Square Garden, the current facility manager of the Hartford Civic Center.

“This is great news for the City of Hartford and Connecticut,” said Lawrence R.  Gottesdiener, chairman and CEO of Northland Investment Corporation.  “CDA’s decision partners Northland, downtown Hartford’s largest property owner, with AEG, the premiere sports and entertainment presenter in the world.  We appreciate the CDA’s professionalism and thoroughness throughout this process and thank them for their vote of confidence in the Northland/AEG partnership.”

“All three finalists represented firms with national and international experience in sports facility management.  We are thrilled the Hartford Civic Center attracted such professional companies to the process,” said Marie O’Brien, president of the CDA.
